Each week all players will play 4 matches. 5 players will be assigned to a court, and remain on that court the entire duration. The Competitive 4.0-3.5-3.0 blended League Time: 9 am to 12 pm. played on Thursdays. Starting October 12th, going for 8 weeks, skipping Thanksgiving day. Ends December 7th. The Leagues will be operated in a Ladder format, Doubles mixed Round robin rotation. You register as an individual, not as a partnered league. Games will be played to 15. First team to 15 wins the match. 1 point earned for a win. Each player will rotate, and pair up with a new player each match. For each weeks session, every player will have one BYE. Each week, you will move up or down the roster depending upon your points won from the previous week. Points won is your measure of offense. Games won will break tie scores. Winners of the league will be determined by total points won, and then by wins. Final week will be a regular ladder playoff, and ends with a pizza party and beverages. We welcome a small dish to pass (treats), on the final session. If weather becomes a factor, (snow day) that weeks session may be cancelled for safety concerns, and the league will extend to finish the 8 week session, on December 14th.
League By-Laws
Explanation: A random round robin rotation creates the situation where a players are not evenly matched in skill. The outcome is the weaker player gets targeted, and scores are not as balanced.
A ladder league format creates a roster where equally skilled players compete against their own talent level. You move up or down the ladder based on your overall performance.
Blended League format. 4.0 - 3.5 - 3.0.
League will be organized with players attempted to be placed in the league roster at the beginning that are closely matched in skill. This will be based on what players we have returning from the winter league in 2023. New players that signed up in the league will be placed amongst these players in the roster.
For the first 6 weeks. At this point, the league will divide and "lock player rosters" to three levels after the sixth week. This is where you will stay for the final two weeks of the league at that division.
You place on the ladder based on points won overall at the end of week 6 will put you into the rotation for that skill level to the end of the league at week 8.
4 courts will then be assigned to 4.0 level play (20 players).
4 courts will then be assigned to 3.5 level play (20 players).
4 courts will then be assigned to 3.0 level play (20 players).
Deduction of 5 points off the subs total score for having a sub play for you. Penalty declared was added to the "By-Laws". Other leagues do this to prevent abuse.
Substitution player conflicts. Note: Last year we had a few complaints. I would like to suggest that if you need a sub for a week, that you as a participant make your best effort to ask/find a player that is "close to or equal in skill and talent to yours".
Awards: provision to award to BOTH MEN and WOMEN, for 1st, 2nd and 3rd (Gold, Silver, Bronze recognition). Awards will be given at 3 levels of play 4.0, 3.5 and 3.0 divisions at the end of week 8.

Determining Serving Team
Any fair method can be used to determine which player or team has first choice of side, service, or receive. (Example: Write a 1 or 2 on the back of the score sheet.). https://usapickleball.org/what-is-pickleball/official-rules/rules-summary/
Be fair, be honest, line calls and faults can be difficult, it is best to replay one that is difficult to call or is contested.
